ABOUT THE CONNELLY GROUP TEAM
The Connelly Group of Companies, (CGC), is a privately-owned organization founded in 1980. CGC’s client base is a virtual “who’s who” of Private, Public, Not for Profit and Indigenous peoples’ organizations.
CGC has a reputation for identifying opportunities, then quickly developing and executing strategic plans to achieve objectives. Following this approach, we have conceived and built a series of successful companies from the ground up over the last 35 years. Our clients say one of our greatest strengths is our ability to coordinate and find consensus between disparate groups of stakeholders, so that together, they may achieve goals otherwise unobtainable on their own.
Company and Brand Development
CGC has conceived and developed several internationally renowned brands over three decades. Some notable businesses we created include: Connelly Business Exhibitions, GTEC/Technology in Government Week, Canadian High Technology Week, Ottawa Business Show/Business World, and PMC Training.
GTEC/Technology in Government Week is one of the world’s largest forums on using information technology to improve government service delivery and operations. Over 7,000 professionals from dozens of countries around the world attend the exhibition, conference and the Distinction Awards. As part of the Week, Connelly Exhibitions also conceived and developed the first Government/Industry Roundtable in conjunction with the Canadian Advanced Technology Association and other groups. Conclusions reached by the annual Roundtables have been incorporated into Canada’s industrial development policy by the federal government. In 1998 CGC sold GTEC and Government in Technology Week to Ziff Davis/Softbank, a multinational corporation headquartered in Japan.
Canadian High Technology Week became Canada’s largest event serving users of electronic components, test & measurement equipment, and production & packaging equipment. In 1991 CGC sold the three Canadian High Technology events in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal event to Reed PLC, a major multinational headquartered in England.
Ottawa Business Show was the National Capital’s premier business event and Canada’s largest business Show. It comprised three concurrent events: COMTECH featured hundreds of exhibits from leading information technology companies, as well as a highly popular IT conference. The Productive Workplace Exhibition featured the latest ergonomic furniture and office environment products and services for modern office. The Ottawa Business Show featured a complete range of services for business and government. In 1998, the Connelly Group sold the Ottawa Business Show to InBusiness Media Network Inc.

RON CONNELLY
President
Ron founded CGC in 1980. Under his guidance the firm has conceived, and developed many successful companies. Some of these companies continue to operate under CGC and some have been sold to major multi-nationals. Ron is active in the community, and has served on various committees and boards, some of which include: The Mayors Economic Task Force on the Future of Ottawa, Commercial Industrial Development Corporation, The Entrepreneurship Centre of Ottawa-Carleton, OCRI, The Ottawa Construction Association, The Ottawa Association of Exposition Managers. He received his MBA from Sir George Williams University in Montreal (now Concordia University) and B.Comm from Carleton University.

DAN HAMILTON
Vice President
Dan’s career in marketing and events management spans over twenty years, as entrepreneur and producer of his own events, as Vice President of Connelly Business Exhibitions, and also as a consultant to one of the world’s largest integrated media firms, Ziff Davis. Over his career, Dan has been involved in the conception, development, launch and marketing of eight new major annual events. His responsibilities have included government and media relations, business strategy, product and brand development, training, and sales and marketing management. Dan also conducts due diligence of companies in the biotechnology and information technology sectors, for the purposes of assessing investment suitability. He has been a member of the evaluation committee of the Carleton University Technology Advancement Fund, which invests in promising technology start-ups arising from the work of faculty or students.

ROBERT (BOB) MORAIS
Chief Financial Officer
Bob has over 25 years of diverse business experience. His accounting and finance background has translated into his working with major institutions, corporations, and private enterprises. Bob has volunteered with many organizations having sat on boards and committees in Ottawa, Kemptville, and provincially for Ontario. He currently is a member of the Kemptville District Hospital Board of Directors, and it’s Corporate Services Committee.

JON CONNELLY
Manager of Investment Stategy
Jon joined the Connelly Group in 2013, bringing a breadth of experience in finance, sales, and marketing. Jon has experience in both the public and private sector, having worked for startups and established companies. His role involves managing both the investment and real estate portfolio for the group.
